How the field does the work

Play the stack. Magnets float apart. Spring and copper stay on the same axis. Commercial MBS is hybrid magnets-plus-spring. The 8-magnet springless stack and the 2-on-2 delay couplet are prototype.

Magnetic repulsion

Like-pole rare-earth discs share a sealed tube. They float apart. Force climbs as 1/r² when recoil closes the gap — progressive, not a packed rod, not a steel-on-steel stop. The eight-disc springless stack is prototype. PAMAX commercial MBS is hybrid: staggered fields plus a tuned spring.

Magnetic delay

Unlike poles pull across a set gap. Two N52 on two N52 hold the bolt until recoil breaks the couplet free. That hold is the delay. On return the same pair recaptures if leftover energy is below snap work.

Eddy currents / Lenz

Copper slugs ride the same axis as the stack — barrels, not coins on their side. Motion through the field grows currents that oppose the motion. Residual energy leaves as heat.

Electromagnets & coils

A magnet travels with the bolt through a coil. The field opposes rearward motion. A second coil can harvest the same stroke. Granted October 2024.

PulseCore

MR fluid + pulse

Magnetorheological fluid thickens in a field. A timed pulse at the rear of travel damps; a pulse at the front snaps the bolt into battery. Prior-art disclosed.
