A magnet travels with the bolt through a coil in the buffer housing. The coil’s field opposes that rearward motion, so recoil is braked in the tube instead of dumped into the shoulder. A second coil can sit on the same stroke as a generator — induced current to charge a small source or to feed the opposing coil. Commercial MBS hardware is the unpowered hybrid cousin: staggered like-pole magnets plus a precision-tuned spring. The eight-magnet springless stack is the prototype that proved the field can replace the spring entirely.
Licensing model
Frytech invents and licenses. Partners manufacture. The Magnetic Buffer System is the first commercial platform under that model — OEM production through PAMAX Tactical, limited signed runs through Fry’s Customs. Frytech does not claim to factory-build every unit that wears the physics.
